I had planned to be in Cornwall on holiday, but last week I decided not to go. My stay would have coincided with the G7 Summit, held in Carbis Bay, where I lived for a year – what are the chances! There will be security restrictions in the village. They’re even closing footpaths for two weeks from the start of June. It doesn’t sound like much fun.
Weirdly, I don’t feel too disappointed. Perhaps all the lockdowns have taught me to hold things lightly. I try to focus on the positives. If I don’t go to Cornwall now, I have more time to do things here in North Wales, like take extra work shifts, visit local attractions, and see friends, as well as enjoy reading and writing.
It feels like a holiday anyway. Here’s to home staycations!
